Keyword Monitoring

Sometimes you want to make sure certain words are showing up on your website. This can help you know if important information is there or if something unexpected has appeared. Pulsetic can watch for these keywords.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Set Up Keyword Monitoring

1. Log in to your Pulsetic dashboard and navigate to the Monitors section.
2. Add a website monitor.
3. Scroll down to find the Response and Keywords section. This area allows you to pass or fail checks based on the response status and the text the page contains.
4. Define your keyword rule. Select the option that fits your needs:
   • Option A: Set an Expected Keyword (Pass if Found)
     • Use this if you want to verify that a specific word is present on your page (e.g., "Welcome" or "Checkout").
     • Enter your desired word or phrase in the Response text / Keyword field. If this text is missing from the page, the check will fail.
     • If the capitalization of the word does not matter, check the Case insensitive box.
   • Option B: Set a Negative Keyword (Fail if Found)
     • Use this if you want to be alerted when an unexpected word appears on your page (e.g., "Error" or "Maintenance").
     • Check the Not in response box and enter the keyword that must be absent from the page. If Pulsetic finds this word, the check will immediately fail.
5. Click Add new header if you want to verify that your server is returning specific headers. By default, Pulsetic considers HTTP status codes 200 through 206 as successful. If you only want a specific code to pass (e.g., just 200 ), type it here. Note: Entering any numbers here completely replaces the default list.
6. Click the Update button at the bottom of the page to apply your new keyword tracking rules.

Step 2: Preview and Test Your Request

1. Navigate to the Request Preview section. This provides a read-only summary of exactly what Pulsetic will do, including the Request URL, the HTTP Method, frequency, timeout limit, and any headers or body data. Click the Run Check & See Result button to perform a live test of your configuration.
